Index Methodology
How we calculate the AI Cinema Index Score — a transparent, composite score from 0 to 100.
Overview
The AI Cinema Index Score is a composite metric designed to evaluate AI-generated films across multiple dimensions. Each film receives a score from 0 to 100, broken down into seven transparent components. Scores are recalculated nightly to reflect new data.
Score Components
Festival Impact
Selection at major AI film festivals (10 pts each), recognized festivals (6 pts), and official selections (3 pts). Capped at 25.
Awards
Grand prizes (15 pts), category winners (10 pts), and honorable mentions (5 pts). Reflects critical acclaim.
Distribution Reach
Measured by total view count. 1M+ views = 15 pts, scaling down to 2 pts for 1K+ views. Tracks audience reach.
Innovation
Based on AI tool diversity and custom pipeline development. Custom pipelines earn the maximum 10 pts.
Community Rating
Derived from community ratings on a 5-point scale, doubled to contribute up to 10 index points.
Endorsements
Institutional endorsements (5 pts each), filmmaker endorsements (3 pts), and press coverage (2 pts).
Momentum
Recency bonus: films released within 3 months get 5 pts, 6 months get 4 pts, decaying over 2 years.
Creator Scores
Creator Index Scores are derived from their filmography: the average score of their top 5 films (30%), festival track record (20%), awards history (20%), output consistency (15%), innovation across films (5%), and verification status (10%). This rewards sustained excellence over one-hit wonders.
Scores are updated nightly. If you believe your film's data is incorrect, contact us for a review.
